Rifles listed below are duplicates in my collection. In the process of acquiring originals for the purpose of reverse engineering the parts for reproduction, I have necessarily acquired more than one example of some contracts. Please contact me regarding additional photographs and description details. In those cases where I have more than one duplicate, the photo used will remain on the website while that contract model is in stock. In that case "file photo" will be noted. If you have something you desire for your collection that you do not see listed let me know as I may be able to refer you to a source for that item. In those instances where an FFL or C&R is required for transfer it will be so noted in the description. Because the firearm listed may be sold pending funds please contact me before ordering to insure it is still available.

Transformed Musket .58 Caliber
Both Remington and Springfield used Remington Rolling Block Actions to make Cartridge rifles from Civil War muskets. The Musket was cut in half. Barrels were threaded for the RB receiver. Forends, barrel bands, sights etc were fitted to the front and the Butt Stock was inletted for the rear of the action. The trigger guard tang is a longer tang due to the inletting from the original musket. This longer lower tang would later become a standard feature of the #1 Sporting model. There are several variations of the Transformed Rifle; one used an early flat barrel band musket, another used a later convex band musket, and there are those which underwent a second makeover rebarreled to .43 Spanish in Belgium after they were surplussed from France. I have one spare of each type of transformed .58 Berdan musket available. Inquire for photo and detail description. $1100

NYS contract for 15,000 rifles was approved Nov. 1871 and manufactured in 1872. There was a supplemental contract for an additional 4500 rifles and 1500 carbines in 1873. This contract was only one of two contracts to feature the locking action safety system. The rifles have a very tall hammer spur that has a checkered shield on the thumb piece face. The breech block has a horizontal thumb piece also with checkered shield These rifles are typically found in rather good condition as most were armory housed without seeing combat, save those used in the west during the Indian Wars. Swede Rolling Block 1860/1864/1868 Hagstrom musket conversion. Rolling block action manufactured in the Stockholm Armory 1874. 1896 Smokeless Powder Cartridge Rifle. This model was virtually unknown until George Layman introduced collectors to it's presence with his new book on the Military Rolling Block Rifles of the World. Made for a few months in 1896 it has several features that are unique to this model The first and most obvious is the front sight assembly, a long narrow base into which a sight blade is pinned. smaller features on the breech block etc also indicate this model. Layman states only 1100 rifles were manufactured prior to the model 1897 production. The 1896 were chambered in several calibers, the most common of which is 7mm Spanish Mauser.
This rifle is complete with upper hand guard and original cleaning rod. Given the few produced this rarity is currently a bargain. photo series available $950
